History

Founded 26-27 June 1906, London (UK), as a result of a resolution passed at the International Electrical Congress, Sep 1904, St Louis MO (USA). First Statutes drawn up at Preliminary Meeting, 1906, London, adopted in 1908. Revised Statutes adopted: 1949, Stresa (Italy); 1963, Venice (Italy); 1976, Nice (France); 1991, Madrid (Spain); 1992, Rotterdam (Netherlands); 1997; 2000; 2001 (amended in 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009). Previous titles in other languages: Comisión Electrotécnica Internacional -- Internationale Elektrotechnische Kommission -- Mezdunarodnaja Elektrotehniceskaja Komissija. Registered in accordance with Swiss Civil Code. EU Transparency Register: 825251334263-76.

Prepare and publish International Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies; administer Conformity Assessment Systems covering equipment, services and personnel.
