Founded May 1953, Paris (France), at 3rd International Congress for Electroheat, as Bureau international d'électrothermie (BIE). Statutes amended: 28 May 1970; 20 Jun 1984; 2 Jun 1994; 7 Sep 2005; 4 Dec 2012. Name changed, 1957, to International Union for Electroheat – Union internationale d'électrothermie – Internationale Elektrowärme Union. Present name adopted 1994. Registered in accordance with French law.
Promote and develop applications of electricity in line with principles of energy efficiency, protection of the environment, economic viability and social acceptance.
