Union of the Electricity Industry - Eurelectric
Founded as Joint Secretariat of UNIPEDE and EURELECTRIC -- Secrétariat commun d'UNIPEDE et d'EURELECTRIC, by merger of U-XE1681 - European Grouping of the Electricity Supply Industry (EURELECTRIC), set up Nov 1989, Brussels (Belgium), and H-XD2761 - UNIPEDE - International Union of Producers and Distributors of Electrical Energy, set up 1925, Paris (France). Commenced operations under listed title, 1 Jan 2000. The Secretariat of UNIPEDE (the association of the European electricity supply industry) moved to Brussels in Mar 1998, to link up with the existing structure of EURELECTRIC (the association of the European Union electricity supply industry); but the two organizations maintained distinct identities until their full merger.
Contribute to the competitiveness of the electricity industry; provide effective representation for the industry in public affairs; promote the role of electricity in the advancement of society.
