Founded following a first technical conference of representatives of the electrical supply industry in the region.
Bring together and foster cooperation and exchange of expertise and technology between organizations which are responsible for one or more of the functions of generation, transmission and distribution of electricity for public use in the countries the region; study problems at the regional level, the solutions of which are likely to contribute to the development of electricity supply industry in the area.
