Founded 1 Jan 1995, as a single institute deriving from International Laboratory for Research on Animal Diseases (ILRAD) and International Livestock Centre for Africa (ILCA).

Aims

Increase animal health, nutrition and productivity; tailor long-term sustainable production systems and develop technologies to protect environment supporting animal production; characterize and conserve the genetic diversity of indigenous tropical forage species and livestock breeds; promote equitable and sustainable national policies for animal agriculture and related natural resource management.
