Aims

Promote cooperation, consultation and information exchange between member institutions on one hand and partners on the other; define joint sub-regional and regional research objectives and priorities; serve as a consultative body for research carried out by regional and international organizations operating at the sub-regional level; develop joint research programmes in order to strengthen complementary activities of the Council and its partners; harmonize the activities of existing research networks and facilitate the creation of new regional networks or other operational research units with a regional character.

General Assembly (annual). Governing Council of 9 members, comprising 6 representatives of the National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) and 3 representatives from agricultural research partners recognized by CORAF/WECARD, including 1 representative each of NGOs, the private sector and professional agricultural organizations. Scientific and Technical Committee of 8 experts, consisting of 6 representatives of NARS, 1 representative of advanced research institutions and 1 representative of regional and international organizations.
