Founded Jan 1985, Nouakchott (Mauritania), on the initiative of F-XF6027 - Sahel and West Africa Club (SWAC) and D-XD4566 - Comité permanent inter-Etats de lutte contre la sécheresse dans le Sahel (CILSS), under the original title: Network for the Prevention of Food Crisis in the Sahel -- Réseau de prévention des crises alimentaires dans le Sahel. Food Aid Charter -- Charte de l'aide alimentaire adopted by member states of Club de Sahel and CILSS and approved, 10 Feb 1990, Guinea-Bissau, by summit of CILSS Heads of State. Charter for food crises prevention and management adopted 17 Nov 2011, Conakry (Guinea) by F-XD3462 - Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) member states, Chad and Mauritania, and approved by ECOWAS Ordinary Heads of States and Government Summit, Feb 2012, Abuja (Nigeria).
Aims
Offer an open platform for consultation, coordination, dialogue, analysis and action around food and nutritional security issues in the Sahel and West Africa.
