Changed title to International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) -- Instituto Internacional de Recursos Fitogenéticos 1991, when became an autonomous international scientific organization of CGIAR. Following a decision of CGIAR in 1994, U-XF1947 - International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantain (INIBAP), based in Montpellier (France), became one of IPGRI's programmes. Current title adopted 1 Dec 2006, when INIBAP completed integration process into IPGRI and both organizations adopted the same new name. Registered as a 501c3 non-profit in the USA; a UK Registered Charity: 1131854.
