History
Founded by E-XE4468 - CGIAR System Organization (CGIAR).
1991, became an autonomous international scientific organization of CGIAR.
Following a decision of CGIAR in 1994, U-XF1947 - International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantain (INIBAP), based in Montpellier (France), became one of IPGRI's programmes.
2006, INIBAP completed integration process into IPGRI and both organizations adopted the same new name.
Ceased to exist as an individual organization, when merged with U-XE4637 - International Centre for Tropical Agriculture, to become E-AA3785 - Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT (Alliance Bioversity & CIAT).

Deliver research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people's lives in a climate crisis.
