The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Act as a nonpartisan information exchange centre mechanism and a global information clearinghouse on sustainable development initiatives. To use its experience in servicing its constituency and fulfilling its mission, the Centre plans to expand its activities by operating more like a service organization providing expertise and information, as well as monitoring and reporting on UNCED follow-up and networking.
