Aims

Use communication in support of human development and for meeting basic needs in the development process; facilitate peoples participation in communication; support programmes to enhance and impart communication skills and appropriate technologies through training programmes; plan, implement and evaluate communication programmes in support of development and human rights; actively work for a more balanced flow of information within and between countries, recognizing every person's right to inform and to be informed; promote in the industrial countries a better understanding of and support for the development process in the Third World countries and for their cultures, social traditions and values and for the human aspect of development; mobilize existing communication networks and create new ones - South-South and South-North - for promotion of international understanding, cooperation and peace in a world of growing interdependence.

Structure

Central Council, consisting of President, 7 Vice-Presidents, and (currently) 11 members and 3 co-opted members. Executive Committee, comprising 6 members. With the International Office based in Sri Lanka (Colombo), Worldview operates a network of Media Centres in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The activities in Europe and USA are coordinated from Secretary General's Offices in Norway (Oslo and Stavanger).
