The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Aug 1976, Bangalore (India). Registered as a public Charitable Trust under Indian Trust Act of 1882. No activities reported since 2009.

Aims

Arrange for the training and education of rural development workers; evolve appropriate technology for the benefit of rural artisans; promote grass-root level people's organizations for their own development; disseminate information; promote South-South exchange; provide transfer of technology in sericulture.

Activities

Develops Human Resources Training Programmes conducted on continuing basis, some for specific period and a few on ad hoc basis; engages in field projects; promotes international understanding and especially South-South and North-South cooperations in the field of sustainable development; organizes policy dialogue through seminars, workshops and discussion groups. Training programmes include: International Training Programmes in Human Resource Development (ITPHRD); Agrarian Reforms and Rural Development (ARRD); Training in Tropical Sericulture (ITPTS); Seed Technology (Sericulture); Silk Cocoon Reeling Technology; Asian Rural Service Corps (ARSC); Land Reforms and Rural Development (LRRD); Training of Rural Youth in Self-Employment (TRYSEM). Programme of Transfer of Technology in Sericulture is carried out through AIRD's 'Centre for Technology Transfer in Sericulture (ACTTS)'.
