The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

23 Mar 1963, London (UK). Also known as Conseil des comités nationaux européens de jeunesse. Registered in accordance with Belgian law. Ceased to exist, 31 Dec 1996, on merger with Youth Forum of the European Union (YFEU) and European Coordination Bureau of International Youth Organizations (ECB) to form European Youth Forum.

Aims

Encourage cooperation among young people in Europe and promote communication among member Committees, enabling them to initiate and implement policies to further European cooperation; represent members to governmental and nongovernmental European institutions and to appropriate international bodies; promote democratic participation by young people within youth organizations and in their individual societies; assist them to develop a European consciousness based on mutual respect and understanding by creating an awareness of the different traditions of the common European culture.

Activities

Forum for exchange of information, experience and ideas between members; research on youth problems in Europe; projects, seminars, study groups, study tours, conferences. Maintains archives of the previous Framework for All-European Youth and Student Cooperation (AEYSC) (dissolved Sep 1992). Instrumental in setting up European Management of Learning (EML).
