History

4 May 1964, Rome (Italy), with the title International Juridical Organization for Developing Countries, following report of a group of jurists to Conference of Resident Representatives in Africa of United Nations Technical Assistance Board, 1963, Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).

Aims

Combat hunger and poverty through promotion of the law and legal aspects of the environment and development, while advocating global partnership.

Activities

Carries out: legal/technical studies; consultancy; drafting of legislation, international protocols and conventions; legal research and analysis (preparation of reports, conference papers and articles); feasibility studies; planning and supervision of international development programmes. Instrumental in setting up International Court for Environmental Protection of the Mediterranean Sea.
