History
Established by authority of General Assembly of A-XA3375 - United Nations (UN) Resolution 2659 (XXV) of 7 Dec 1970, and at the request of UN member countries in order to be a development partner of the UN system. Declaration of Sanaa (Yemen) adopted 7-13 Mar 1982. Declaration of Maseru adopted 16-21 Nov 1986. Kathmandu (Nepal) Statement, 1-6 Dec 1991. UNV headquarters moved from Geneva (Switzerland) to Bonn (Germany) in 1996.
