History

Founded by merger of H-XA1667 - International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU), H-XA3490 - World Confederation of Labour (WCL) and other independent trade unions, during inaugural congress.

Aims

Promote and defend workers' rights and interests through international cooperation among trade unions, global campaigning and advocacy within the major global institutions.

Executive Bureau (meets at least twice a year), comprising President, General Secretary and up to 25 titular members of the General Council, including Chair and Vice-Chair of Women's Committee and Chair of Youth Committee.
