History

1951, Frankfurt-Main (Germany FR), following: work of Comité international socialiste consultatif (COMISCO), an organizational centre of several socialist parties, Dec 1947 - Jun 1951; the setting up of a temporary U-XU1570 - International Solidarity Committee, 1946, Clacton-on-Sea (UK); the work of H-XH0411 - Comité international socialiste consultatif (COMISCO), set up 1947 as a loose organization of democratic labour and socialist parties from all parts of the world. COMISCO was seen as re-establishing H-XH3774 - Labour and Socialist International (LSI), formed 21 May 1923, Hamburg (Germany), on merger of H-XH0182 - Second International, created 21 Jul 1889, Paris (France), and H-XH0139 - International Working Union of Socialist Parties, set up 1921.

Aims

Strengthen relations among member parties and organizations and coordinate their political views and activities by consent; establish contacts with progressive forces worldwide working for application of the principles of democratic socialism - an international movement for freedom, social justice and solidarity.
