Apr 1969, as Comité Intergubernamental Coordinador de la Cuenca del Plata (CABEI), following ratification of the River Plate Basin Treaty -- Traité du Bassin du Rio de la Plata -- Tratado de la Cuenca de la Plata, originally signed 23 Apr 1969, Brasilia (Brazil); definitely ratified, 1972. Sometimes referred to in English as River Plate Basin System.
Promote and support development programmes for the area covered by the River Plate and its affluents, including questions of water resources and navigation, soils conservation and improvement, transports, health, education, environment.
