History

Statutes modified, Feb 1999, when absorbed H-XD0620 - European Union of Christian Democrats (EUCD). In 2002, absorbed H-XD5396 - European Democrat Union (EDU). Constitutes a European political party as envisaged under Article 138A of T-XT9113 - Treaty on European Union (Maastricht Treaty). Recognized by F-XF2147 - European Union (EU) as an official European level (transnational) political party, according to the EU Regulation No 2004/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 Nov 2004, and amended 18 Dec 2007. Statutes modified Dec 2009 and Dec 2011, and Internal Regulations modified, Dec 2009.

Aims

Ensure close permanent collaboration among centre-right political parties of Europe in order to achieve their common policies; promote and organize common action at European level; work to achieve a free and pluralist democracy; promote a Europe-wide social market economy; pursue the process of integration in Europe as a constituent element of the European Union; promote and consolidate democracy in transition countries; promote transatlantic and international relations.
