1955, as Helvetas - Swiss Association of Technical Assistance, the first private development organization in Switzerland. Also referred to as Helvetas - Swiss Association for Development and Cooperation -- Helvetas - Association suisse pour le développement et la coopération -- Helvetas - Asociación Suiza para el Desarrollo y la Cooperación -- Helvetas - Schweizer Gesellschaft für Entwicklung und Zusammenarbeit -- Helvetas - Associação Suiça ao Desenvolvimento e Cooperação -- Helvetas - Associazione Svizzera per lo Sviluppo e la Cooperazione. Ceased to exist, 1 Jul 2011, on merger with U-XG7825 - INTERCOOPERATION, to become G-XJ5885 - Helvetas.

Aims

Provide developing countries with technical assistance in renewable natural resources, rural infrastructure, education and culture; help bring about justice and solidarity through meeting material and non-material needs, counteracting and overcoming conditions detrimental to development and the human environment.
