Founded 1971, to unite efforts of 4 Swiss NGOs: Bread for All; Catholic Lenten Fund; Helvetas - Swiss Association for International Cooperation; Swissaid. Original title: Joint Committee Swissaid - Swiss Catholic Lenten Fund - Bread for Brethren - Helvetas -- Communauté de travail Swissaid - Action de carême - Pain pour tous - Helvetas -- Arbeitsgemeinschaft Swissaid - Fastenopfer - Brot für Alle - Helvetas. Restructured 1991. Name changed to Swiss Coalition of Development Organizations Swissaid - Catholic Lenten Fund - Bread for All - Helvetas - Caritas -- Communauté de travail Swissaid - Action de carême - Pain pour le prochain - Helvetas - Caritas -- Arbeitsgemeinschaft Swissaid - Fastenopfer - Brot für Alle - Helvetas - Caritas, 1992, when Caritas Switzerland became the 5th member. Swiss Interchurch Aid (EPER) became the 6th member in 2003. Has also been referred to as Swiss Aid Agencies Coalition and as Communauté des organisations suisses de développement. Current named adopted 2005.

Aims

Represent the interests in Switzerland of the poor and disadvantaged majority of the population of Southern and Eastern developing countries to attain a more equitable and peaceful world.
