History

Founded 12 Feb 1947, Geneva (Switzerland), as International Centre of Research and Information on Collective Economy -- Centre international de recherches et d'information sur l'économie collective, following efforts of Prof Edgard Milhaud and Swiss national organization. Previously also referred to in German as Internationales Forschungs- und Informationszentrum für Öffentliche Wirtschaft und Gemeinwirtschaft (IFIG). Registered in accordance with Belgian law: 27 July 1961; 26 Sep 1974 (when current title was adopted); 3 Aug 1995; 26 Apr 2006. The publication 'Annals of Public and Cooperative Economics' existed from 1908-1924 as 'Annales de la régie directe' and from 1925-1974 as 'Annals of Collective Economy'.

Undertake and promote collection of information, scientific research and publication of works on economic sectors and activities oriented towards service of general and collective interest.
