History

1962, Montpellier (France), within the framework of International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM), pursuant to the agreement of 21 May 1962 setting up that body. Also known as Montpellier MAI -- IAM Montpellier or IAMM. Full title: International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies - Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Montpellier (CIHEAM-IAMM) -- Centre International de Hautes Etudes Agronomiques Méditerraéennes - Institut Agronomique Méditerranéen de Montpellier (CIHEAM-IAMM). Other institutes belonging to ICAMAS: Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (Bari MAI); Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh); Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (MAIZ).

Aims

Offer post-graduate and continuing training to students, young professionals and senior personnel from Mediterranean and other countries; carry out research in agro-food and rural development; implement agricultural and rural development projects and programmes; participate in policy dialogue on agriculture and rural development and contribute to better understanding of agricultural and food issues.
