6 Sep 1958, Brussels (Belgium), as Committee of Agricultural Organizations in the EC – Comité des organisations professionnelles agricoles de la CE – Ausschuss der Berufsständischen Landwirtschaftlichen Organisationen der EG – Comitato delle Organizzazioni Professionali Agricole della CE. Secretariat set up, 1 Apr 1959, Brussels; merged, 1 Dec 1962, with that of E-XE0989 - General Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives in the European Union. Also previously known as Committee of Agricultural Organizations in the EU – Comité des organisations professionnelles agricoles de l'UE (COPA). Subsequently known as Committee of Professional Agricultural Organizations in the EU – Comité des organisations professionnelles agricoles de l'UE (COPA) – Comité des Organizaciones Profesionales Agrarias de la Unión Europea – Ausschuss der Berufsständischen Landwirtschaftlichen Organisationen der Europäischen Union – Comitato delle Organizzazioni Professionali Agricole dell'Unione Europea. Currently known under its acronym. Integrated activities of H-XD0686 - European Confederation of Agriculture with COGECA, Jul 2006. EU Transparency Register: 44856881231-49.

Aims

Represent general and specific interests of farmers in discussions with the EU institutions and other EU bodies; coordinate proposals in order to define common attitudes to be submitted to European Union institutions; defend the interests of agriculture as a whole; examine any matters related to the development of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), in coordination with COGECA; maintain and develop relations with Comunity authorities and with any other representative organizations or social partners established at the European level.
