History
1949, Imst (Austria), by Hermann Gmeiner, when first SOS Children's Village was set up. International organization set up 1960, as the umbrella organization for all national SOS children's associations. Statutes revised and adopted 1993, Innsbruck (Austria). Current statutes adopted by 18th ordinary General Assembly, 2008, Innsbruck (Austria).
Aims
Provide direct services in areas of care, education and health for children and young people at risk of losing parental care, and those who have lost parental care; build capacity of children's caregivers, their families and communities to provide adequate care.
