1971, Hyderabad (India), during 1st Asian Congress of Nutrition, when the idea of organizing the nutritional scientists of Asia into a federation was launched. Formally organized during 2nd Asian Congress, 17 Jan 1973, Manila (Philippines).
Foster international fellowship and cooperation among nutrition scientists in the Asian region; serve as a forum for exchange of information and experiences in nutrition research, training, and action programs; act as a liaison between member countries and IUNS as well as the appropriate United Nations agencies.
