Mediterranean Coastal Foundation (MEDCOAST)
Founded early 1990's, by Middle East Technical University, Antalya (Turkey). Organized first international scientific activity in 1993. Became a recognized institution in the coastal management for the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, 2007, when adopted its current title.
Contribute to coastal and marine conservation in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea through improved coastal management practices by enhancing scientific and professional collaboration among individuals and institutes in the Mediterranean and Black Sea countries, or elsewhere, for the purpose of: (a) Producing means to improve understanding of physical, bio-chemical and ecological processes taking place in the Mediterranean and Black Sea coastal and sea environment, and their interactions with human activities; (b) Facilitating the utilization of scientific knowledge and modern management tools in achieving integrated coastal and sea management; (c) Complementing and contributing to existing efforts having similar goals.
