Founded by 6 regional authorities: Rhône-Alpes; Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur; Wallonia; Pais Vasco; Aquitaine; Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Brussels (Belgium) office created Nov 1991. Current statutes adopted 4 Nov 2020, Brussels (Belgium).
Aims
Facilitate development of inter-regional partnerships in the fields of energy management, development of renewable energy and environment, thus encouraging exchange of experience and transfer of know-how and technology and enhancing energy efficiency; lobby European institutions on behalf of regional and local communities; promote regional dimension in energy and environment discussion, emphasizing demand, local supply and sustainable development; assist regions to develop capacity for action, especially in setting up energy and environment agencies.
