Founded 28 May 1994, Pamplona (Spain), at constitutive general meeting, following proclamation of a 'Charter of the Cities for Recycling' at 2nd European Congress on Packaging and the Environment, 26 Oct 1993, Brussels (Belgium). Original title: Association of Cities for Recycling (ACR) -- Association des villes pour le recyclage (AVR) -- Asociación de Ciudades para el Reciclaje -- Städteverband für Recycling -- Associação das Cidades Para a Reciclagem -- Associazione di Città per il Riciclaggio -- Vereniging van Steden voor Recyclage. Subtitle: Network for the Exchange of Information between Cities and Urban Communities on Selective Waste Collection. Previously also known as Association of Cities for Recycling (ACR) -- Association des villes et régions pour le recyclage -- Asociación de Ciudades y Regiones para el Reciclaje -- Associação das Cidades e Regiões Para a Reciclagem -- Associazione di Città e Regioni per il Riciclaggio -- Vereniging van Steden en Regio's voor Recyclage. Aims

Promote sustainable consumption of resources and management of waste in cities and urban communities through prevention at source, reuse and recycling, especially: technical data on waste management options; means of communication, education and sensitization; legal, economic or voluntary instruments.
