18 Feb 1974, as a specialized agency of D-XD2903 - League of Arab States (LAS), on signature of establishment agreement by a number of LAS member states and pursuant to decision of 6th Arab Summit, 28 Nov 1973, Algiers (Algeria). Commenced operations in Mar 1975. Financial resources of H-XH0596 - Special Arab Aid Fund for Africa (SAAFA), established concurrently with BADEA in Jan 1974, were incorporated into BADEA in 1977.
Strengthen economic, financial and technical cooperation between Arab and African countries and the embodiment of Arab-African solidarity based on equality and friendship.
