1967, Suva (Fiji), by Royal Charter, following consultations by the 'Interim Council of the University of the South Pacific' with governments in the Pacific region (Cook Is, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Is, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Is, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu).
Aims
Serve the needs of governments in the Pacific by providing education and training, research and consultancy services geared to regional needs.
