History

1980, to follow up Pacific Islands Conference (PIC), Heads of Government meeting originally every 5, now every 3 years, involving leaders from throughout the Pacific Islands region. PIC is also referred to as Pacific Islands Conference of Leaders (PICL) and the Standing Committee as Standing Committee of the Pacific Islands Conference of Leaders.

Aims

Ensure follow-up on development problems discussed at each Pacific Islands Conference.
