1989-11 Brussels Belgium

History

Nov 1989, Brussels (Belgium). Became an F-XE0630 - European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) in 1991. From Mar 1998, structure linked with H-XD2761 - UNIPEDE - International Union of Producers and Distributors of Electrical Energy, but the two organizations still maintained distinct identities, EURELECTRIC being the association of the European Union electricity supply industry and UNIPEDE the association of the European electricity supply industry, until their full merger, 7 Dec 1999, to become D-XE3484 - Union of the Electricity Industry - Eurelectric.

Aims

Represent the European electricity industry in its dealings with the European Union; develop common positions enabling the sector to speak with a single voice; ensure harmonious development of the European electricity system; maintain relations with undertakings from non-EU countries.
