The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


Nov 1989, Brussels (Belgium). Became an European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) in 1991. From Mar 1998, structure linked with UNIPEDE - International Union of Producers and Distributors of Electrical Energy, but the two organizations still maintained distinct identities, EURELECTRIC being the association of the European Union electricity supply industry and UNIPEDE the association of the European electricity supply industry, until their full merger, 7 Dec 1999, to become Union of the Electricity Industry - Eurelectric.


Represent the European electricity industry in its dealings with the European Union; develop common positions enabling the sector to speak with a single voice; ensure harmonious development of the European electricity system; maintain relations with undertakings from non-EU countries.

Expertise of UNIPEDE and EURELECTRIC: Domain 1 - Energy Policy and Energy Economics. Domain 2 - Market Structure and Regulation. Domain 3 - Products, Markets and Customers. Domain 4 - Environment and Sustainability. EURELECTRIC: adopts industry positions in response to EU legislative proposals; makes network of experts available to EU bodies, in particular European Commission and Economic and Social Committee; organizes seminars, conferences and workshops.
