The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Apr 1992, Hamburg (Germany), within International Forum for Child Welfare (IFCW). As of 2004 ceased to operate. Activities taken over by Eurochild.

Aims

Improve the quality of life for children and young people in the European Union region; ensure services for children in need; raise the profile of child welfare with the EU institutions; assist EU institutions to understand children's needs and to respond appropriately; promote high quality practice throughout Europe. monitor and influence legislation; provide opportunities for advancement and training for those working with deprived, disadvantaged or disabled children.

Facilitates study and exchange visits. Informs relevant bodies about child issues. Meets annually at IFCW World Forum and also annually at meetings/seminars in member countries.
