Centre régional AGRHYMET
Dec 1974, under the name Centre régional de formation et d'application en agrométéorologie et hydrologie opérationnelle (Centre AGRHYMET), by member countries of D-XD4566 - Comité permanent inter-Etats de lutte contre la sécheresse dans le Sahel (CILSS), as a specialized institute of CILSS; commenced operations in Oct 1975. Following a comprehensive restructuring of CILSS, 1993, the Centre's operational activities were recognized into two Major Programmes.
Ensure harmonious and integrated exploitation of meteorological, agrometeorological, pest control, remote sensing and hydrological competences and services in the Sahel region; strive to secure food security of member states; ensure increased food production in the management of natural resources in the Sahel region by applying agrometeorological and hydrological information.
