History
Set up by German Federal Government as national secretariat only for the UNESCO and WMO water programmes in 1975. Since July 2014 renamed ICWRGC and acknowledged as Category 2 Water Centre under the auspices of B-XB3383 - UNESCO.
Aims
Estimate impacts of global change to fresh water resources management and provide global hydrological data information through global water data centres; monitor and analyse water quality and world water balance; support the international development agenda; promote international cooperation; support national operational hydrological services in the field of water issues.
