History
Oct 1995, as a joint project of E-XK1089 - START International (START), U-XK0795 - Global Change and Terrestrial Ecosystems Project (GCTE) and E-XE7078 - Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMEO BIOTROP). Previously referred to as Southeast Asian Impacts Centre.
Aims
Assist scientists in the Southeast Asian region to build their own capacity in assessing the impacts of global change on terrestrial ecosystems, including agriculture, production forestry and nature reserve systems; promote planning for sustainable development and biodiversity conservation in a rapidly changing global environment; stimulate and support collaborative research on impacts assessment and adaptation relating to coping with regional and global environmental change and moving towards sustainable development; provide support to the policy process, both at the regional and national levels in Southeast Asia.
