The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

15 Feb 1983, in accordance with a recommendation of 2nd Arab Energy Conference. Comes within the framework of Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC).

Activities

Economics Department: studies issues relating to energy supply and demand and to the role of oil in Arab and international economies; follows up economic interdependence between the Arab region and other economic blocs; provides advisory services on local petroleum product pricing and pattern and rationalization of local energy consumption; prepares and analyses statistics; follows up and coordinates work for Arab Energy Conference. Technical Department monitors developments in petroleum exploration and drilling, oil and gas production, reservoir engineering, enhanced recovery and potential of heavy oil, as refining, natural gas, and petrochemical industries in the Arab region and worldwide; compares international developments with those of the Arab world, promoting joint Arab activities, providing technical consulting and organizing seminars and training programmes.
