History

Founded by Dr Lena Madesin Phillips (USA). Most recent amendments to Constitution and By-Laws adopted at 21st Congress, 5-10 Jul 1993, Nagoya (Japan). Also referred to as Business and Professional Women International (BPWI). Previously also known by the acronym IFBPW - FIFCLC - FIMNP.

Aims

Organize business and professional women worldwide to use their combined abilities and strengths for the attainment of high standards in business and the professions; work for equal opportunities and status for women in the economic, civil and political life of all countries; encourage women and girls to acquire education, occupational training and advanced education; use their occupational capacities and intelligence to the advantage of others as well as themselves; promote worldwide friendship, cooperation and understanding among business and professional women.
