1979, as European Committee for Equality between Women and Men -- Comité européen pour l'égalité des chances entre les femmes et les hommes (CEEG), in the framework of D-XD0435 - Council of Europe (CE). Ceased to exist, 2008, when last terms of reference finished.
Define and monitor the Council of Europe's policy in the field of equality between the sexes. Current issues: combating violation of women's human rights; the need to respect equal dignity and value of women and men; promotion of equal participation of women and men in political and public life; protection of women and young girls against violence and trafficking; mainstreaming of equality into all policies and programmes at all levels of society; positive action in the field; women and conflict prevention.
