History
1986, to monitor the F-XF1536 - Conférence au sommet des chefs d'Etat et de gouvernement des pays ayant le français en partage (Sommet de la Francophonie). 1st meeting: 30 Oct 1987, Paris (France). Also referred to as Comité international du suivi. Summit conferences have been held: 1986, Paris; 1987, Québec (Canada); 1989, Dakar (Senegal); 1991, Paris (Chaillot). Replaced by E-XE3041 - Conseil permanent de la Francophonie (CPF), set up 21 Nov 1991, Paris.
Aims
Coordinate and assure the implementation of decisions of the Francophone Summit; consider the future for francophone cooperation.
Structure
Committee of 12, including President and 3 Vice-Presidents, meets frequently, usually in Paris (France). 'Sub-Committee on the Future of French Institutions -- Sous-comité sur l'avenir des institutions francophones (Sous-comité Roy)'. Networks (6).
