History

9 June 1964, Paris (France), as Institut international de droit des pays d'expression française, at the suggestion of Alain Plantey and René Cassin. First congress, Jan 1966, Fort-Lamy. Present French title adopted 25 Mar 1968, Antananarivo (Madagascar). Statutes most recently modified 21 June 1995. Registered in accordance with French law.

Aims

Establish links and facilitate exchange of ideas among individuals and organizations concerned with study or practice of law in countries that are wholly or partially French-speaking; promote and organize cultural exchange and cooperation between individuals and institutions of different nationalities concerned with legal problems.
