Nov 1986, Santiago (Chile), at Constitutive Meeting, by resolution of B-XB3383 - UNESCO XXIII General Conference. Original title: Regional Program for Strengthening Cooperation between Networks and National Information Systems in Latin America and the Caribbean -- Programme régional pour le renforcement de la coopération entre les réseaux et les systèmes nationaux d'information pour le développement en Amérique latine et dans les Caraïbes -- Programa Regional para el Fortalecimiento de la Cooperación entre Redes y Sistemas Nacionales de Información para el Desarrollo en América Latina y El Caribe. Previously also referred to as National Information Networks and Systems for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean -- Systèmes nationaux d'information pour le développement en Amérique latine et dans les Caraïbes. Current title adopted 14 Jun 2001, Port-of-Spain (Trinidad-Tobago). Ceased to exist, 2008.

Aims

Promote exchange of expertise and experiences for the development of the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbean.
