Founded as Association of Caribbean University and Research Institute Libraries, at a conference under the auspices of D-XD4170 - Universities Caribbean. Subsequently referred to as Association of Caribbean and Research Libraries. Present title adopted 1976. Most recent constitution adopted 1992.
Facilitate development and use of libraries, archives and information services, and identification, collection and preservation of information resources in support of all intellectual and educational endeavours in the Caribbean area; strengthen archival, library and information professions in the region.
