History

Inaugural conference Sep 1986 after activities started in 1984 by a small group of in-house trade mark managers who felt that their companies' needs as trade mark owners should be represented more adequately in Europe. Steering Committee set up, formed of senior representatives from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Mars Incorporated, Rowntrees Distillers Company, Allied-Lyons, British Telecom and Beecham. This Steering Committee together with a group of other companies, including Lego (Denmark), Morgan Crucible (UK) and Volvo (Sweden), committed a significant measure of foundation funding to ensure the successful international launch and establishment of MARQUES.

Aims

Represent and be a trusted voice for brand owners; educate in the field of management and exploitation of IP rights; promote professional development of members; be a reliable partner in advancing these aims.
