9 Dec 1961, Brussels (Belgium), on signature of an Act of Constitution by patent agents from 9 countries, as Union of European Patent Agents – Union des agents en brevets européens – Union Europäischer Patentanwälte. Subsequently known as Union of European Professional Patent Representatives. In 1975 became Union of European Patent Attorneys and other Representatives before the European Patent Office (UNEPA) – Union des conseils européens en brevets et autres mandataires agréés auprès de l'Office européen des brevets. Changed title to Union of European Practitioners in Industrial Property – Union des praticiens européens en propriété industrielle – Union Europäischer Berater für den Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz, 1979. Current title adopted 2005. EU Transparency Register: 041311320851-72.
Study problems relating to the protection of industrial property and to the profession of members in Europe; come to conclusions on these problems and convey these conclusions to the authorities and other interested parties as recommendations or opinions or as drafts.
