Commenced activities in 1964. Constitution modified: Nov 1965, Buenos Aires (Argentina), during first Congress; 1968, Lima (Peru). Sometimes referred to by English initials IAAIP.
Promote, in the American countries, the development and harmonization of the laws, regulations and procedures related to industrial and intellectual property; advise governments and intergovernmental entities on the study of projects on legal dispositions related to intellectual property; encourage relationships with related entities, such as FICPI, WIP, AIPPI, INTA, AIPLA and IPO.
