History

15 Nov 1991, under an agreement with the Government of Argentina. Derives from Pan American Zoonoses Center -- Centre panaméricain des zoonoses -- Centro Panamericano de Zoonosis (CEPANZO), set up 1956, as part of the Veterinary Public Health Programme of E-XE3060 - Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and B-XB3548 - WHO, with the assistance of the government of Argentina. Moved to the current location - Martinez, Buenos Aires (Argentina), in 1984. One of the 8 specialized Centres of PAHO. Closed Dec 2005 due to internal organization of PAHO.

Aims

Provide member governments of the organization, as well as their initiatives for integration, with international references services, technical cooperation and research for the solution of problems related to food protection, zoonoses control and the strengthening of health and agriculture laboratories.
