1987 Lomé Togo
History
1987, Lomé (Togo), within the framework of E-XE3975 - International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), in response to resolution of African policy planners at meeting sponsored by E-XE3382 - UNDP, 1986, Muscle Shoals AL (USA), at IFDC headquarters. Also referred to by initials IFDC-A. Jan 2002 became IFDC Africa Division.
Aims
Assist sub-Saharan Africa achieve increasing agricultural production while ensuring environmental maintenance and sustainability of soil resources; put farming at the centre of a collective effort at community, national and international levels to enhance living conditions in the rural environment and sustain global life support systems through stable and profitable agriculture; use a holistic approach involving integration of organic and inorganic fertilization practices, combining agroecological and socioeconomic intervention and coordinating stakeholder efforts at different levels.
