Address soil fertility problems facing sub-Saharan Africa; foster greater understanding of factors contributing to soil fertility decline and potential solutions; act as a catalyst for further participation in design and implementation of comprehensive soil fertility management programmes; improve productivity of cultivated lands and revenue of farmers in Africa through a combination of technology adoption and policy reform.
