The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

29 Nov 1995, Barcelona (Spain), during III Mediterranean Environmental Forum. Registered in accordance with Spanish law.

Aims

Promote defence and protection of the environment within a framework of sustainable development in the Mediterranean region; promote preservation of the environment and of nature on the basis of solidarity between individuals and between peoples, solidarity between them and their surroundings, and between the people of today and future generations; act as a meeting point between North and South and promote intercultural dialogue and cooperation for a sustainable development between both shores.

Activities

Represents NGOs in international fora; carries out cooperation projects for sustainable development; promotes Mediterranean-wide campaigns and is active in all countries of the Mediterranean; organizes fora, seminars and meetings. Subject commissions currently operational include: Environment; Education; Sustainable Tourism; Desertification; Coastline; Biodiversity.
